Basic information about my thesis Research area: inclusive education in primary schools in Brno Working title of the thesis: Inclusive Approaches in Education of Pupils in Elementary Schools in the Town Brno and its Surroundings with Emphasis on Pupils with Specific Learning Disorders Key words: special educational need, specific learning disorders, inclusive education, supportive measures, teaching strategies Aims of the thesis The main aim: analysis of the condition of inclusive education and teaching strategies in heterogeneous classroom in elementary schools in Brno and its surroundings The partial aims:  analysis of the supportive measures for pupils with special educational needs in mainstream schools  analysis of teaching strategies used in heterogeneous classes  analysis of means of cooperation between teacher and other subjects (e.g. school counselors, parents) Thesis structure  theoretical part:  analysis of specialized literature focused on inclusive education and conditions of education of pupils with special needs  analysis of research outcomes focused on teaching forms, methods and strategies in education of pupils with specific learning disorder  practical part:  methodology of the research  research results and their interpretation  conclusion and recommendations for teachers Research methods  first part of research: quantitative approach  questionnaire for teachers of elementary school classes where children with special educational needs are educated  second part of research: mixed approach  semi-structured interviews with teachers experienced in inclusive education of pupils with specific learning disorders, and their pupils  observation in the heterogeneous classes focused on structure of lessons, teaching methods and strategies  sociometric tools  analysis of documents Research questions, e.g.:  How is the individual educational plan of the pupil projected into education reality?  What is the role of the teaching assistant in the class?  Which teaching methods do teachers use?  Which strategies for teaching reading and writing do teachers use in teaching pupils with specific learning disorders?  Which aids do the pupils use?  What are the forms of cooperation between the school and the family?  How do teachers contribute to the positive social climate of the class?
