The Orientation Week at Masaryk University in the autumn semester 2009
The Office for International Studies runs an extensive orientation week program. A typical orientation week includes lectures on Czech culture and Czech society and on the Czech university system, an intensive course in Czech (ranging from "survival" Czech for complete beginners to various degrees of advanced courses for those who already have knowledge of the language), a welcoming party with Masaryk University teachers and students, a tour of Brno, a visit to Brno museum, and a day-long excursion in the environs of the city (Maravian Carst).
For students in the CESP, ISEP Exchange, ISEP-Direct and TESOL TE programs, this is included in their program costs. These students do not pay the Orientation week fee. Other international students such as students coming to Masaryk University within the Erasmus scheme and bilateral agreements, CEEPUS students, students on bilateral exchanges with individual departments or faculties can participate in the orientation week for a small fee of 830 CZK (app. 32 EUR, 44 USD).
