Exam

Please arrive at the latest 20 minutes before the exam time (as written in the IS at each exam date). Note: If you come some 20-25 minutes earlier and notify the examiner, you can be let in the room first in line.

Form of the exam

- The exam is written only. The test has 50 questions with four choices and always one choice correct (Sample test (with only 40 questions) here).
- Net time for the exam is 70 minutes.
- In the net time for the exam, you need to fill your answers in the answer sheet, which is later scanned to get the score (Sample answer sheet). We now use answer sheet with 3 possibilities to correct your answers; also do not forget to fill in the test number & your university number (UČO). The tests are scanned by school's e-technician and then graded by me according to the grading scale. The process typically takes 1 or 2 working days.
- You can use ordinary calculator, but you cannot use cell phone/tablet/any similar device.

Content of the exam

The test questions are drawn from the official testbank for the book. The 50 test questions encompass all book chapters mentioned in the table above. (Sample test (with only 40 questions) here shows the type of questions similar to you will have on the exam).

Grading

correct answer is for 1 point, incorrect or no answer is for 0 points.
Grading scale:
A: 50–46 points
B: 45–43 points
C: 42–40 points
D: 39–37 points
E: 36–34 points
F: 33 points or less

(The maybe unusual higher point requirements are due to the fact that I keep higher count of very easy questions in the test. I do this in order to boost your self-confidence on the easy questions.)

Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination.

Exam dates

Exam dates will be in the Information System. All the exams are shared with Czech course equivalents. Please reserve a slot for the exam in the Information System if you want to come. After the test is graded, you can have a look at the exam (in my office) if you are interested. Please write me an e-mail if you want to have a look at your exam.

There will also be one resit in the beginning of the fall semester (according to Sec. 16 (4) a) SER). This resit will be on Saturday or Sunday in the first or second week of the fall semester. The day and time will be for technical reasons (in particular the possibility to book the room) specified during the first week of the fall semester. Note that if you want to participate in the resit in the fall semester, you typically have to have enough credits to progress to the next semester (check with your regular student advisor).

Failed exam

If you fail the exam for the first time, you can take two resits if you are enrolled in the course for the first time (see Section 19 (2)). If you already repeat the course, you can have only one resit. If you don't come on the exam date you have registered for (without acceptable excuse), you get "-" grade (counts as failed; see Section 16 (7) of Study and Examination regulations).

Repetition of Successful Course Completion

There is a possibility to repeat exam that you already passed - see Section 21 of SER. You can improve your grade, but there is a risk of worsening the grade as well (incl. failing the course!). Also, you can do this only once per semester. For more datails, please see the Study and Examination regulations, Section 21.
It is all done in the IS, but the agenda may not be completely translated (yet). I show a screenshot where the agenda is. If there are some non-translated parts, you may turn to me or your student advisor for help.
It works like this: If you request to correct a successful grade, the IS will remove your successful grade from the IS and then you can reserve an exam slot and come to the exam. After the exam is evaluated, you will be given (new) grade based on your new results.
