A very short presentation tries to point out the most common concepts regarding social (and health) policy. It can be helpful for the following assignment (see below).

At the class, you'll be supposed to search relevant data and answer simple questions concerning the essential parameters of the health policy in your or another selected country. The aim is to practice the competencies needed for conducting empirical analysis.

Here, you can find some useful links to hopefully helpful public databases:

Read carefully this selected chapter from Dunn's textbook. It is quite long; however, you can skip technical (math) parts. We want you to know about methods, to be able to conduct some of them using your competence from previous or subsequent classes (statistics, econometrics, calculus...). We're not able to teach you to use all of them.

Assignment (voluntary) up to 10 points

Your task is to project, predict, or conjecture future states (for the year 2025) of the following ten effectors or descriptors. You are supposed to find data, explain a method you will use. Finally, please comment on each of your findings - what are the main factors that affect its validity and/or reliability. Do not present data itself - just carefully identify the source. You can use a country or group of countries you like for any indicator (not necessarily the same).
