Every optimization endeavour should start with modelling and documenting the process. Moreover, modelling allows a better understanding of the processes and more productive discussion about the process. Although many modelling notations exist, you will be using and learning the Business Process Model Notation as it is considered as the de facto standard for BPM modelling.

• Read Introduction to BPMN by Stephen White.
• Try to model some simple process from your everyday life.
• Model it by hand on paper and try to use BPMN.
• Take a picture of the paper with the model and upload it in IS (and bring in the next class).
• You can earn a maximum of 1 point.
