Selecting a topic
Students choose topic from published topics
within an established deadline.
It is appropriate to choose a topic towards which you have a relation, and which interests you - you will be working on it for a year and a half. Some supervisors publish their available topics, and some supervisors can be approached by you with your own topic.
Chosen topic is binding and can be changed only in exceptional cases.
Supervisor should always mentor a topic, which is close to their field and their qualification, otherwise they will not be able to provide helpful feedback. Supervisor is not obligated to accept a request of a topic change, especially when they do not consider the topic to be beneficial or the feasibility of thesis’s purpose is uncertain. It is also possible that there is not a supervisor in a certain department which is suitable for some specific individual topics. Supervisor has a right to refuse to mentor a topic, even if it is in their field, especially when they have a full capacity, and they could not lead thesis with approximate care due to time matter.
