Corporate Social Responsibility

Course objectives, content, schedule and teacher

Objectives:

The aim of the course is to develop your knowledge and skills in the field of corporate social responsibility so that, in addition to understanding the various areas that are part of corporate social responsibility and why it is important to deal with corporate social responsibility, you will be able to formulate a CSR strategy for a selected entity and create an action plan.

As you know (information in the IS in the Course Background Information), the course will be taught in two languages. The lectures are shared with the English version of this course and will therefore be conducted in English (this applies to the full-time form of study). Lectures should be recorded. Seminars, on the other hand, will be in Czech (Slovak).  This information is given in English - the English programme has its own syllabus.


Content:

The following topics will be covered during the semester:

  • Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) - basic concepts and historical development; 
  • Responsibility - meaning of the term and types of responsibility relevant to CSR management; 
  • Relationship between CSR and sustainable development and growth, circular economy and ethics; 
  • Social Entrepreneurship; 
  • A strategic approach to corporate social responsibility - the concept of shared values; 
  • Stakeholder Theory and Corporate Social Responsibility; 
  • Standards governing corporate social responsibility behaviour; 
  • CSR management in the supply chain; 
  • CSR reporting; 
  • The process of implementing CSR into corporate governance;
  • CSR performance evaluation and measurement.

Schedule:
