01. 03. 2018 - Implementing Saga Transactions Support in Distributed Systems (Martin Štefanko)
Transaction handling has never been an easy task. It became even more complicated in modern systems based on the microservices architecture that targets the cloud environment. As distributed transactions need to take care of all these challenges, sometimes the traditional ACID approach may just not be sufficient.
This is where the saga pattern comes in. Even if it cannot be considered a new concept, it started to become more popular in recent years. In this talk I will explain what the saga is, how it differs from the conventional two phase commit protocol and present what I am working on as a part of my master thesis in collaboration with the Narayana transaction manager.
