Project in Object-oriented Design of Information Systems
Week 3: Analysis Patterns -- Case Study, part 2 + Patterns Brainstorming
Lesson outline:
- [50 mins] Teacher explains 5 analysis patterns (Part 2 of slides) and demonstrates most of them.
- Ollie's Order Centre - Analysis Patterns (slides)
- Slides from PA103 (relevant alternative slides for analysis patterns)
- [50 mins] Teacher discusses proposals of teams from the previous lesson. In the meantime, students brainstorm on the presented patterns and their applicability within the IS MU system. The results of this brainstorming shall be submitted as a result of this seminar (in a text file).
- After the submission deadline, the teacher selects for each team 4 (out of 10) patterns that the team shall implement on the next seminar and informs the teams via email to prevent delays.
Hints for totally lost teams
Fowler's patterns that seem to be valuable for the IS MU system:
- Party + Accountability
- Quantity + Conversion Ratio + Individual Instance Method (?)
- Identification scheme
- Proposed and Implemented Action + Completed and Abandoned Actions + [Suspension + Plan]
Features of IS MU to be taken into consideration for analysis model:
- The organizational structure of MU and faculties is very complex:
- Basic organizational hierarchy: university, faculties/institutions, departments.
- Management of MU and faculties/institutions: senior management, dean's council.
- Academic boards: academic senate, scientific board, ...
- ...
- There are several classifications:
- A = 1 = excellent
- B = 1.5 = very good
- C = 2 = good
- D = 2.5 = acceptable
- E = 3 = satisfactory
- F = 4 = unsatisfactory
- Z = accepted
- N = rejected
- It would be useful to monitor changes in number of students enrolled in study fields/programs.
- It would be even more useful to monitor transfers of student between study fields.
- Each lecture is planned and realized for every single semester (registration, enrollment, cancellation, teaching, closure, ...)
