Exercise 3: You will listen to a telephone call between a small boy and a police officer.
a) Listen to it once and try to answer the following questions:
1. What does the boy have problem with?
2. What does the police officer say when the boy explains he wants to talk on the phone?
3. What are some of the “take aways” the boy asks about?
4. How old is the boy?
5. Who is the third person that joins the conversation?
b) Listen to the excerpt one more time and correct the above.
c) What exactly happened? Do you know of some similar events? Has something like this
happened to you?
Exercise 4: Nils Olav is a member of the Norwegian Guard and has risen through its ranks during his
40 years of service, in 2005 being promoted to Colonel-in-Chief. Discuss the possible reasons
behind that.
