Quality of the application provided by Smart grids depends of the abilities of the communication infrastructure. I will talk about two opportunities to optimize communications in Smart grids systems, we are now researching (with emphasis to the second one since I haven't talked about it in Lasaris yet):

1. scheduling of the communication requests in order to reduce peak time traffic;
2. optimizing the strategy for choosing the segments of infrastructure, where high-bandwidth technology (optic fibers) should be deployed.
