Exercise: last two pages of week 4 handout. First look at the short excerpt on hyperactivity to notice the ways you can link sentences and paragraphs together (page 2 of the handout). Then look at the final text - the first four paragraphs of a dissertation on groupware - and analyze the text. Focus on: - individual sentences and how they are connected (only paragraphs 3 and 4) - linking words and phrases, other ways of joining the sentences (pronouns, repetition - in this step you will need to refer to the hyperactivity text the most); - sentences as a whole and their function in a paragraph - function of each paragraph
