Ahamed, Shawn

Taking this course on person-centered communication has been eye-opening and incredibly practical. I’m now more aware of my own communication style and the impact my words and nonverbal cues have on others. Overall, this course is teaching me skills that I can use every day, both personally and professionally, to communicate more effectively and compassionately.

After completing the person-centered communication class, I feel much more confident in my listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. Practicing these skills has helped me connect more deeply and authentically with others, as I now focus more on understanding their perspective.

Nenapadá mi čo by som mohol viac povedať nad rámec toho, čo som povedal priamo na hodinách v tú našu poslednú polhodinku na review alebo už osobnejšie po hodinách. Tešim sa na naše budúce spoločné stretnutie.

Hossen, Mir Tanvir

The Person-Centered Communication seminar was a great experience that helped me improve my communication skills, build confidence, and become better at presenting. The seminar focused on helping us express ourselves clearly, overcome shyness, and present topics well. We did a lot of group activities, working in small teams, which made learning fun and practical. We took turns being the speaker, listener, and observer. Speaking boosted my confidence, listening helped me understand others better, and observing showed me things I hadn’ t noticed before. Overall, this seminar made me feel more comfortable speaking in front of others and better at connecting with people.

The person-centered communication class was insightful, emphasizing empathy and active listening. It made me realize the importance of genuinely understanding others’ perspectives to foster trust and connection. I feel better equipped to communicate effectively and build stronger, supportive relationships.

Hussain, Shahadat

In our 1st block Person-Centered Communication class, the teacher took time to discuss each student’s communication strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. Receiving this personalized feedback helped me clearly understand what I’m already doing well and where I can work to improve. It was encouraging to see my strengths acknowledged, and the suggestions for improvement gave me a clear path forward. Learning about good listening characteristics and active listening techniques was especially helpful. We discussed ways to stay engaged in conversations, like keeping eye contact, asking questions, and responding thoughtfully. These strategies made me realize how much more meaningful a conversation can be when you truly listen. Finally, Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions provided insight into how different cultures shape communication styles. Recognizing cultural differences, like individualism versus collectivism, helps avoid misunderstandings and promotes respect. This framework has made me more aware of how to communicate effectively in diverse settings.

Taking Person Centered Communication—PV209 in the beginning semester of my degree is a wise decision so far, because according to the first session of this course, it fills me confident to communicate with each other in several ways. For example, I was afraid of meeting new people in the new environment, but after taking the first session, it already started to boost my communication skills regarding meeting new individuals. Communication is one of the key factors to do better in the study as well as in the workplace. Because the tasks i was assigned in the session had to performed in a group, it was an effective event for me to work in a team, which ultimately leads to becoming a good co-worker. On the other hand, I learnt some new techniques to improve my listening and speaking skills. Becoming a good listener will help me to become a good speaker, and this particular course will assist me to increase these skills. Overall, it was a good block for me, and I believe at the end of this course, it will create new opportunities for me.

Pathania, Vishali

Sial, Muhammad Talha

It was a fun block. I liked the activities and found them to be in good combination with the theory. My main takeaway from the block would be Hofstede’s dimensions. It was interesting to see how it applies to different cultures and influences its societal norms and by having such an international group we were lucky enough to witness this in practice. :)

For me the biggest joys in these seminars is meeting and getting to know people. I also enjoyed learning more about active listening and connecting with people. I try to apply some of these principles in interactions with my friends and colleagues and it feels good to connect a bit more with people. I really enjoyed our activities in pairs or groups especially the one durning Friday’s lunch, it was very fun. I enjoyed listening to people’s thoughts and feelings during our group discussions. However, I do feel like the group discussions and reflections could be a bit shorter with more activities in between - it’s exhausting to sit for so long. I also feel like I learn a lot more through the activities than discussions.
