COURSE 3: Introduction to Experiential Learning
Learning outcomes of the course unit
Course objectives:
After completing the course students will be able to describe the principles, benefits and background of experience-reflective learning and experiential education. The whole summer school will be partly conceived as an experiential education programme so the individual techniques will be tested on participants themselves. The result of the course will acquire basic competencies in work with experience in pedagogy and in the group.
Course contents:
- theory of experiential education
- theory of experience-reflective learning
- methodological steps of reflection
- rules of psychological safety in experiential education
- background of preparation a course using the experiential education method
- self experience with experiential education
Planned learning activities and teaching methods:
- self-learning, student´s own experience
- experiential activities for individuals and groups
- reflection of experience
- theoretical blocks
- concept of the whole summer school in the spirit of an experiential education
Assessment methods and criteria:
Active participation. Reflection on the given topic.
