Wlodzimierz Strzyewski invented the game with the rings as additional sport for fencer in Poland in 1959. Over the time, this "compensation" has become an individual sport, which started to develop rapidly in Poland (the name ringo dates back to 1968). Ringo in Poland became part of the school curriculum at primary schools and became the main sport of the Polish youth.
