Basic information

 

This course is intended to help masters students improve their academic writing skills and practice English. This is a writing-intensive course that provides training in the methods of researching and writing Sociology essays in several different styles, such as writing book reviews, social issue reaction papers, and reports on quantitative and qualitative research. The intent is to prepare students for professional writing and to introduce students to various sociological perspectives on academic writing, and about sociological theory and methods.

Credits: 15

Meeting time: Tuesdays from 14.00-15.40

Classroom: U34

Number of students: 6-8

Graded assignments: 4 essays, plus final research essay

Other grading criteria: Class attendance and participation is required. Students must attend EVERY class meeting.
