Linda R. Waugh (b. 1942) is professor of ttnguiM*e> at Cornell University. In 1979 and 1980, she was a Fellow of the Society for the Humanities. Cornell university and had a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities Her principal research interests are linguistic semantics (grammatical and lexical meaning), linguistic phonology; semiotics (relation between linguistic and other semiotic systems); and metaphor and metonymy in language, culture, and poetry.
