Organization of the sessions 9, 10 and 11 Students will be divided into three groups (see below) and each of them will be assigned one country which held the presidential or general elections. Each group is supposed to prepare an oral presentation analyzing the situation during the elections in their assigned country. After the presentation, both remaining groups will present their peer review. Presentation The presentation is due in session to which it relates in terms of its topic, and consists of the oral presentation itself (lasting for about 30 minutes) and the handout that summarizes major points of the presentation and will be distributed to other students in the class (as a document uploaded in the IS). The handout must have 2-3 pages (single-and-half spaced, font size 12) and can summarize the presentation content either in essay-like, or in bullet-point format. Deadline for submitting the handout is 20 April 2022. It is important to meet the deadline so your colleagues have enough time to go through your handout before your actual presentation and think of their peer reviews. We kindly ask all three groups to submit the handout in the given deadline even if the third case study will be presented only on 2 May. As for use of PowerPoint presentation, we will leave this decision up to you. The main goal is to keep attention of your audience and avoid simple reading of the text. The aspects to be considered when preparing your presentations are following: · Current political background · What kind of elections are held and under which circumstances? · Post-electoral situation · EOM findings and conclusions · Reaction of the international community · Personal reflection The final report is a good starting point for your presentation. However, do not limit yourself to a simple repetition of the conclusions from the report. Do not be shy to present fact-based arguments which may contradict the final report or bring another point of view on the topic. You will find the final reports uploaded in the IS. Peer review The rest of the students are always expected to familiarize themselves with the situation in the presented country to be able to deliver their peer review (=provide their comprehensive feedback on the presentation that have just heard) and participate in a follow-up discussion with the presenting team. The peer review should last between 5-10 minutes. You do not need to prepare any paper material, however be sure that your group is ready to react in comprehensive and coherent way when the presentation is over. On the top of the handout submitted by the presenting group, you should read their respective final report and any additional materials which may help you when peer-reviewing your colleagues.
