Try Ihis. bul don't panic when the window disappears. This window is still open and you simply click on Ihe SPSS icon in the Windows Task bar lo restore it to its original size. The second square represents llie Maximize button and if you click on this the Dala Editor window will fill the screen. To reslore the window lo its original si7£ click on Ihis button again. Clicking on the third square in Hie top right hand corner of the Dala Editor window closes the SPSS program down altogether. (2) The Menu bar Underneath (lie Title bar yoti will find Ihe Menu bar which is the primary means of getting SPSS lo carry oul Ihe tasks you require. As can be seen from Figúre 0.2, the Menu bar contains ten broad menu headings, beginning with File and ending with Help. If you click Ihe mouse on any of Ihese headings a variety of options relating lo Ihis topic will appear in a drop-down menu. Figure 0..5, for instance (p. 1?), displays the Edit drop-down menu. To gel rid of the drop-down menu simply click anywhere outside it. A brief summary of some of the main funclions associated with each of these ten menus is appropriate at this stage.
