Course Evaluation Assessment for the course will consist of three parts: a group presentation during the course (assessment 1: 30%), a short film or presentation to be submitted after the course is completed (assessment 2: 50%) and a mark for attendance and participation (20%). I will mark each essay to a value of 100% and assess participation in a similar way. Then I will weight all the components to arrive at a final mark. The final numerical marks will be translated to grades in the following way: A = more than 70% B = 60 – 70% C = 50– 60% D = 40– 50% E = less than 40% Assessment 1: Land, Labour and Capital in a Green Economy: In-class presentation in groups “Explore how the green economist°s understanding of a factor of production differs from that of a mainstream economist” The presentation should last around 10 minutes, after which you should be prepared to answer questions Presentation date/time: 31 October 2013: 16.00 Assessment 2: Land, Labour and Cupital in a Green Economy: Film or Presentation, groupwork “Explore how the green economist°s understanding of a factor of production differs from that of a mainstream economist” You are required to produce a multi-media presentation on a theme that you find interesting and that is important to the learning outcomes of the module. The presentation can be either Powerpoint slides with a recorded commentary or a short video—both should last around 10 minutes and should be interesting, informative and well-referenced. To follow your own process of learning, and so that I can do that too, you will also be required to submit a personal reflexive journal, which can include detail of your general learning experience, but should focus particularly on the process of planning and producing the video or presentation. You can include detail of how you chose the topic, allocated the tasks, conducted the research, and designed the presentation. Obviously, it is a good idea to make clear your own personal contribution, although the marking will depend on the quality of the presentation itself as well as the journal. Please submit the presentation and journal in the vault on the IS site for this course. You may also upload your film to an open site such as Youtube or Vimeo and send me the link. The deadline for the submission of the journal and for the finalisation of the video or other presentation will be 16^th December 2013.
