Naomi Levy and Bonnie Phan explored whether identity influences support for the EU in some other
way than just by having a direct effect. They looked at whether sociotropic and egocentric economic
evaluations influence support for the EU differently among citizens with European identity (versus
citizens with national identity). What did Levy and Phan find?

In your interpreting the figures, focus only on the lines, disregard the grey bars in the
background. "Marginal effect" means how much effect the independent variable has, in other words,
how much it affects support for the EU. Also, remind us what sociotropic and egocentric economic
perceptions are.
