Week 2: Group Formation, Social Identity Theory, Enemy Image and Conflict

The second teaching unit will focus on the unique relationship between the individual and the group, alongside the introduction of several key theories in social Psychology and an in-depth discussion of 'Enmity in IR'.
We will address the following topics: Group Formation (Ingroups and outgroups, Social Identity Theory, Social Categorization, Social Identity, Social Comparison) and the way enemies are created (Scapegoating, Dehumanization).
