6. Debate: Is ICC Effective?
The seminar will have a form of a debate. Students will be divided into 3 groups (defenders, opponents, and referees), write a group report for each camp and defend/oppose a statement given beforehand.
Topic: Does International Criminal Court Deter HR Violations?
Submission of reports (defendants and opponents) until 20 October 2022, 18:00.
Submission of reports of referees: 1 November 2022, 18:00.
You will be working in groups - forming three groups (defendants, opponents, referees). Below, you can find enrolment into respective camps. You can pick your group until Friday 8 October. The enrolment will start today, 5 October at 17:00.
The list of seminar groups is to be found in IS, in your course information (course catalogue -> list of seminar groups).
It is up to you how you structure your report - in elaborated points, or plain text. However, you are expected to introduce the question, your main argument, and outline how you are going to argue.
Defendants and opponents need to submit their report (7p long) until 20 October. Referees will then read the report and prepare questions for the debate. Referees will submit the report until 1. November.
