This lecture will examine cultural meanings and tropes of monstrosity. It will look at a monstrosity as a category of cultural analysis that focuses on understanding, classifying, and managing differences. Focusing on historical and cultural meanings of monstrosity, I will argue that monstrosity represents socio-political and cultural anxieties.
