In this session, we will explore the concept of unresolved conflicts, focusing on definitions and trends in different types of internal armed conflicts. You will be introduced to key terms, case studies, and the overall structure of the course, including its goals, requirements, and expectations. By understanding the complexities of internal conflicts and their persistence, we will set the stage for deeper analysis throughout the semester, looking specifically at frozen conflicts and their unique challenges. This class will provide a solid foundation for the study of unresolved conflicts in the post-Soviet space and beyond.
