8/10 Week 3 Reading week
Group enrollment will close on 12 November. The participation is an obligatory part of the course.
Please use this week to catch up on your reading, prepare for the midterm test, and enroll in the groups as per the topics for the group papers and presentations.
Group papers should be conceived as policy papers and take up to 5,000 words maximally. Should consist of an introduction, presentation of the main actors, issues, and progression of the conflict, including individual motivations of the actors and events and predictions for future development based on the supported points provided in this analysis. Take into consideration the different goals and limits of all actors included. Summarize the predictions and threats for global stability in the conclusion.
PAPER WILL INCLUDE REQUIREMENTS
Formal requirements – good formatting (font 12; row size 1,5; justified margins in one column; separate and clearly stated summary and essay parts), and style of the paper (introduction page or pertinent info within the header - name, učo, course, topic, lecturer name, date)
Citation and sources – citation style used consistently throughout, quotes and paraphrases referenced (citation of the reliable/peer-reviewed sources within the text and as well in the final list of references) all citations are following the academic citation norms of your choice (APA. Chicago, Harvard, MLA....). The paper will include at least 5 sources (if the course reading is used, then 5 additional sources). Please work with quality sources and verify the source origins if using the media coverage.
Presentation/Performance
Based on the paper the group presentation (key points from the paper) will consist of PowerPoint and role-play of all participants. Each member of the group must speak, and represent his role as an individual actor. The performance should be a maximum of 25 minutes long. In the role play please include the short introduction and conclusion as well. Please focus on your performance - volume, pace, facial expressions, gestures, posture, and body language. Presentation skills and clear and understandable speaking are very important for your future career. Let's train it now and pretend that you are actually participating in the global political meeting.
