(ii)On what basis is the term ‘Europeanised’ an accurate characterisation of European Union public policy making? Provide public policy area examples to justify your assessment. (iii)Are there benefits or difficulties arising from the principles of harmonisation, mutual recognition and convergence in the E.U Public Policy process? Use examples from one or more E.U. Public Policy area to illustrate and critically assess your examination of this question. (PLEASE NOTE: The Common Agricultural Policy, Security and Defence Policy, and Economic policy concerning the EU budget are not public policy areas. You should check carefully that your chosen policy area constitutes ‘public policy’, as if it does not you will not receive the required grade to pass the course.) 1. Structure of Essay Answers Analyse the question – ‘content words’, ‘process words’ Structure of your essay/answer – in what order, and how will you address the question (brief in introduction) Theories and Arguments – theories, models and arguments you will employ to analyse, critically assess, evaluate, compare and contrast Content and evidence – examples, in terms of information or details you use in order to sustain or challenge the various theories and arguments you have employed in analysis of the question Conclusion – your summary of the various points and arguments/theories of explanation, and your critical evaluation/assessment/comparison of them based on that
