Established by the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2000, the Defense
Task Force on Domestic Violence reviews and evaluates current policies associated with
domestic violence in the military. The task force is charged with formulating a long-term
strategic plan, which will provide the Secretary of Defense with recommendations that
will enhance existing programs for preventing domestic violence and suggest new
approaches to addressing the issue.
