Presidential Election – Arguments For and Against
Speakers: Petr Masný, Ondřej Dlouhý, Radim Dočkal
A few weeks ago, the Czechs did directly vote a president for the first time in their
history.
This presentation is dealing with the quite topical question if the Czech Republic has
made the right choice when the Parliament decided to change the presidential election.
The goal of the presentation is to explain what this change has brought. If the impact
was positive or negative…
We compared both electoral systems and if you discuss such a modification with us we
will be very pleased. Because this matter is current and serious, is important to solve it
out.

Pardons and Amnesties
Speakers: Daniel Klíma, Šárka Šilhánková, Filip Urban, Marek Studnička
Pardons and amnesties is topic of our presentation. Due to the amnesty of our former
president Václav Klaus this topis is very actual and discussed as well. Our aim is to
explain main differences between pardons and amnesties and their typical features.
Then we will explain briefly the history of pardons and amnesties in the Czech Republic
and differencies accrording to other countries. Legislation in forced and the possible
changes of legislation will be explained.

Death penalty
Speakers: Kamila Abbasi, Vojtěch Dostál, Saskie Krejčířová
We are going to give you some information about such a questionable topic which evokes
many arguments to agree as well as disagree with. We are going to talk about a global
problem - the death penalty.
We are going to use the method of comparison of this issue in different countries. We
will discuss this problem from the view of human rights.
Death penalty is the highest penalty for the cruelest crimes only. In some states this
kind of penalty is legal and it is also considered to be very useful. We don´t find it to
be the best way to deal with a criminality but it´s one of many ways to root out the
most serious crimes. On the other side it is a big problem to combine it with the Bill of
Rights and other analogous sources of law, in which we see the most serious problem.
We are quite sure this topic may be helpful for your final exams of English for lawyers,
so you should better pay attention to pass it ☺

very curious about its fors and againts expecially in context with human
rights. I would like to know the list of countries, where the death penalty
is allowed and the types of managing it in different countries.“

World.“
