Report The second mini conference of Seminar group 11 took place on Tuesday, 23 April 2013 in Room 211. We signed the attendance list, grabbed the abstracts and 3 papers for each presentation where we should put tips for presenters. We could have some refreshment prepared on a few tables as well. The mini conference was started by presentation called, the recognition of human rights in China, presented by Martina Fojtová, Sebastian Heřman and David Rajchman. The presentation was well structured and gave the audience wider overview about breaking human rights in China and brought interesting facts about Chinese religion and One-child policy. The presenters were well prepared and kept well with time. We asked classmates to tell their opinion on this presentation: “ The presentation was very good, the presenters were calm and share their ideas brightly”. “The presentation was good on education base but it could be more entertaining for the audience” After a short break for a discussion and a feedback came the second presentation called, Direct election of the president in USA and Czech Republic, presented by Lucia Fridrichová, Petr Suchomel and Markéta Špetíková. Although an official name of the presentation was Czech, Slovak and Pole: direct election of the president within a parliamentary republic, the presenters decided to change it to comparing direct election in USA, because there weren’t many differences between the Czech and Slovak presidential election. The presenters described how the presidents are elected in these countries and what their competences are. To keep an attention of the audience they made a purposely mistake and a few quiz questions. We asked classmates to tell their opinion on this presentation: “ Although the presenters seemed a little shy while presenting, they did a good job”. “Finding that mistake was too hard, but the presentation was solid.” The last presentation was called, So many countries, so many customs, presented by Jiří Vodička, Anna Hrubanová and Ladislav Smik. The presentation was very funny and entertaining. The presenters were wearing typical Arab headdress and they were speaking with a strong Arab accent. The presentation was focused on Islam and his two branches Sunni and Shia. They described main differences between these two schools and brought some new and interesting information. To keep the attention of the audience, they prepared some questions and a video of comparison of two Islam branches. We asked classmates to tell their opinion on this presentation: “ Very funny and educational”. “ By the end of the lesson a secret ballot took place. We voted for the best presentation of two mini conferences. There was no surprise when presentation So many countries, so many customs came as a winner.
