Domain name |
Domain name is a string of chords that allows internet users to refer to individual web-servers. The domain name consist of several so called subdomains which are divided by dots and so called root domain which does not have any name and is expressed by dot (usually not used). The subdomain most on the right is called top level domain, and is (preceded from right to left) by second level domain, third level domain etc.

The domain name has its commercial value. A domain name has the ability to give its holder a competitive advantage towards other competitors. Each top level domain is administered by so called sponsoring organization, which administers the DNS database in its domain. The sponsoring organisation usually concludes contracts with several commercial subjects called registrars who serve as intermediaries between sponsoring organisation and individual users. |
