Case brief - EDBUSY Parties: Prosecutor x Defendants Two managers of the company EDBUSY (Education business system) defraud more than 10,000 clients. The managers promised to clients that after inserting CZK 10,000, they will give them credit in the amount of 800 000 CZK, which the clients will not have to come back. The managers elicited more than half a billion CZK from injured parties from the Czech Republic and Poland, Slovakia. The police managed to arrest the accused managers and seized more than 200 million CZK in bank accounts. Both managers were convicted and sentenced to 8.5 and 7.5 years in prison by Regional Court in Brno / Judge Jiří Stýblo hanged himself in his office several months after the verdict/. One of the managers appealed to the High Court in Olomouc, which upheld his sentence, currently he appeals Supreme Court in Brno. The Court ruled that the funds seized by the police will be used to pay damages to clients. According to Czech Television, there was connection between the company EDBUSY and death of former police officer.
