Description & Learning Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide doctoral students assistance with the writing of a dissertation project.
Tasks for this semester
In this semester, the main task of the student is to finalize the dissertation project. In it, he/she will focus on defining the main and secondary research questions and choose a research methodology.
The dissertation project should comprehensively summarize the existing knowledge of legal scholarship in the field the student is researching and briefly describe how the Ph.D. student's research will be novel and, in that context, describe various aspects of the problems the student will address and how the answers to the research questions will be sought.
The dissertation project should also include a detailed description of the plan for writing the dissertation, which covers writing the scientific papers, presenting them at conferences, and then publishing the papers in an international scientific journal.
To demonstrate the student's ability to produce scholarly works, the dissertation project will include a draft of a 25,000-character scholarly paper, including spaces, which the student will submit to an indexed scholarly journal for review at the end of the semester.
In total, the dissertation project should have at least 40,000 characters including spaces (20,000 characters for the project itself; 25,000 characters for the draft article).
Faculty guidelines 3/2020 apply regarding citations.
The deadline for submission of the dissertation project is 10 January of the following calendar year. The dissertation project will be sent by the student by e-mail to the course supervisor.
After sending and preliminary checking, the dissertation project will be defended before the scientific board or a professional committee designated by the scientific board.
The date of the defense will definitely be set in January (the preliminary date is 10 February 2023).
