Objectives and Outcomes
The course aims to provide specific knowledge of the procedural aspects of patents and designs. It focuses on:
- Filing applications
- Granting patents
- Validation of European patents
- Registration of utility and industrial designs
- Transfer of intellectual property rights
- Licensing
- Technology transfer
- Competition protection
Upon completion, students should be able to:
- Choose the optimal intellectual property strategy (patents vs. utility models)
- Understand the concepts of priority, substantive and formal examination, or the principle of registration
- Have knowledge of the transfer of rights to patents/industrial designs, licensing, and the enforcement of patents or utility models
