C O N T E N T of the summer vacation practical training in Preclinical Dentistry for the 1^st year of Dentistry Duration: 2 weeks (60 hours) Place of training: Laboratory of Stomatology Department Field facilities of the Laboratory, depending on agreement Course of training: Students work under the leadership of a supervisor. They are obliged to observe the principles of safety at work and to work using safety and protective aids. Content of practical training: Prosthetic Technology – 1 week (30 hours) 1. Plaster casting of an alginate impression, taking an impression, model adjustment – in practice. 2. Preparation of a model for fixed prosthetics – split model with metal pins – in practice. 3. Lost wax method - demonstration, video. 4. Laboratory processing of metals and resins - demonstration, video. 5. Laboratory processing of an all-cast bridge – wax modelling, single-member facing. 6. Laboratory procedure for making metalloceramic replacements – video. 7. Laboratory procedure for making replacements from metal-free ceramics - demonstration. 8. Laboratory procedure for making removable dentures of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class – bite templates, making a wire clasp – in practice. Attachments - demonstration. 9. Laboratory procedure for making a total replacement – individual impression spoon, functional rims – in practice up to mounting of models in an articulator, adjustment of teeth – demonstration, video. Principles of selection of teeth for total replacements. Working procedure – dental surgery room phase, laboratory phase, demonstration, video. Repair of a total replacement – fracture, fall-out of a tooth. Direct and indirect rebasing. Dental surgery room – 1 week (30 hours) 1. Operation of a dental surgery room on current consulting days. 2. Taking care of the instrumentarium in a dental surgery room: decontamination, mechanical cleansing, preparation for sterilisation, disinfection. 3. Assistance during a dental treatment. 4. Preparation of pads and filling materials currently used in practice, operation of amalgamators and polymerisation lamps. 5. Grinding of excavators, chisels and cutters, and/or curettes. 6.
