The imperative – explanation

The imperative  we use when we instruct someone how to do something. 

We form the imperative of the ONI form of the verb in the present tense. We remove the ending and when one consonant remains (a letter other than a, e, i / y, o, u), we have the imperative for TY. But mostly we need the VY form and therefore we have to add a new ending (see the table)

There are three groups / three types of imperative formation in the table.

In the exercise that follows, there is a number in brackets that indicates to which group the verb belongs and which rule we follow when forming the imperative.
