INDIVIDUAL PROJECT: OBJECTIVES AND REQUIREMENTS
Submissions deadlines for the individual project in Spring Semester 2022 will be announced in due course. Project supervisors will inform their students via email. The dates will subsequently appear here.
Routinely, there are two sets of submission deadlines + presentation dates in each semester - one before or at the start of the exam period, the other at the end of the exam period. Of course, it is possible to submit the final project before the chosen deadline; however, oral presentations will only take place after all students submit their final versions of the projects intended for that particular deadline. The oral presentations will take place online. Even though presenting your project is a prerequisite for obtaining a credit, the project will be mainly evaluated based on the content of the submitted paper.
Please DO NOT submit your final version of the project in the official homework vault before you are instructed by your supervisor to do so! It is expected that you will consult draft versions of your project with your supervisor and revise them according to your supervisor's instructions, as arranged individually.
Assignment:
The student will use relevant resources (primarily international academic journals) and provide an overview of current knowledge in the selected thematic area. The results will be critically evaluated and discussed in the context of the field. Finally, the direction of further possible research and / or application of knowledge in clinical practice will be suggested.
Recommended work structure:
Introductory part: Formulation of the aim of the work, justification of the choice of topic (Why is this topic important? What is it based on? Why is it useful to process the topic or answer the selected question?)
Description of research areas: Summary of important research, critical evaluation (including critical perspectives, if present), comments on the strength of the evidence (whether the area is sufficiently researched, results supported or inconsistent, etc.).
Summary: Synthesis of knowledge, conclusion, limits, further research, application of knowledge in practice
List of references (citation according to ČSN ISO 690)
Recommended text length: 12 to 15 pages in Word document (docx), line spacing 1.5, font Times New Roman size 12. This corresponds to ca. 3,000-5,500 words (or 25,000-35,000 characters, incl. spaces).
Please note that the text should be meaningfully structured in coherent, medium-length paragraphs addressing various sub-topics rather than consisting of isolated pieces of information presented in single sentences. Research evidence should be presented as support (or counter-evidence) for coherently structured explanation/argumentation rather than being simply listed in the text one by one.
The completed paper will be submitted to the Homework Vault and then briefly orally presented to the DPP MF MU committee. The link to vault is below (PLEASE USE ONLY FOR FINAL VERSIONS APPROVED BY THE SUPERVISOR!)
