1 Theoretical Bases of Clinical Medicine 2-3 Learning outcomes TBL LESSON: 14 Marlen Zmrhalová– Meningitis [Ondřej Zahradníček] After this lesson the student will be able to: • name the most typical infections expressed by fever in a newborn, infant or toddler • arrange the process of differential diagnostics of these infections • choose the most helpful diagnostic procedures in diagnostics of them • interpret the most typical results of these diagnostic procedures • analyse a simple case defined by personal history, examination and laboratory findings • recognize the situations that lead to possible diagnostics of bacterial meningitis • decide about recommended empiric treatment and in the same time also diagnostic for these cases • outline the most typical complications of childhood bacterial meningitis • demonstrate the possible solutions for these complications • recognize the typical mistakes that might be done at management of these infections
