This lesson is the first one, that is dedicated to the prevention of transmission of infections in healthcare facilities.

The first part describes risks of transmission using a "chain of infections" and continues with "Standard precautions" as the basic level of prevention. This lesson is focused on two of them Hand hygiene and Respiratory etiket.

The main messages and also required knowledge from this lesson are:  

1. Risk of transmission of infections in healthcare facilities (sources, routes of transmission, susceptible persons),
2. Main characteristics of healthcare-associated infections, possibilities of their prevention.
3. Standard precautions - main principles, Hand hygiene, Respiratory etiket.
