Lesson 12 - Analgesics

Activities in the lesson

  1. The basic physiology of pain and nociceptive signal conduction will be repeated in the lesson. We will also summarize the possibilities of non-pharmacological and pharmacological pain relief. Subsequently, we will focus on mechanisms of action of selected analgesics and co-analgesics.
  2. Furthermore, we will summarize the basic characteristics of the most commonly used analgesics, using the table below.
  3. From the developed list of analgesics, we will select adequate drugs for the treatment of specific patients - mini-case studies.
  4. We will try a practical prescription on one of the mini-case studies from the previous activity - see the attached materials below.
  5. In the last activity, we repeat the drugs of hyperuricemia and gout, their mechanisms of action, and basic characteristics. The part is again in the attached file below.
