Teoretical Bases of Clinical Medicine 2-3 Learning Outcomes TBL LESSON: 06 David Moravec – Gastroesophageal reflux disease [Martin Harazim] Upon completion of this learning unit, students will be able to: • establish a differential diagnosis for upper abdominal pain and chest pain. • identify the main risk factors for gastroesophageal reflux disease and explain their underlying mechanisms (if known). • explain the basic principles of diagnostic examination for gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophageal carcinoma, or gastric and duodenal ulcers. • explain the pathophysiology of stomach and duodenal ulcers related to Helicobacter pylori infection, indication to treatment H.pylori infection. • formulate the principles of treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease and Barrett's esophagus.
