Before attending SIMU for the medical psychology practicum, it is essential to master the following topics. Please go through everything recommended:

Clinical Phenomenology

Psychological First Aid (chapter 18)

Communication with patients under strong emotions (chapter 18)

Communication of serious news (chapter 18 and interactive syllabus)

Conducting the clinical interview (chapter 18)

Motivational interviewing (Chapters in the book Motivational Interviewing 1 - 8)

These topics can be found in the interactive lecture outline for the exercises and the lecture on communicating a serious message can be found in the interactive lecture outline for the GUIDE algorithm. Preparation also includes studying Chapter 18 of the textbook, which is included in this subsection. 

As part of the training, you will interact with people under strong emotions such as anger, fear, anxiety, or sadness. You will also practice communicating a serious message using the GUIDE or SPIKES algorithm.

Please prepare thoroughly so that we can work effectively to develop your skills in these challenging situations.
