Population
Population is the total number of human inhabitants of a particular area such as a city, country or continent, at any given time. The study if population is known as demography

Population pyramids
Population pyramids are graphs that show the age and sex structure of the population of a specific place or group of people. They provide useful information about:
- changing economic and social needs of population
- the effect of past events on the population such as war or migration
- the likely future growth patterns of the population
They usually present:
- age grouping in five years sets
- the actual numbers in each age group or the percentages of the population in each age group
- the female population on the right side of the graph
- the male population on the left side of the graph
