Mon, 24.4.2023, 17-18:30 (5-6:30 p.m.), online

Are you interested in finding out what special education looks like abroad, how inclusion works and what are the possibilities for employment in the field?

Dubai, a diverse and multicultural city with a growing population from all over the world.

Cultural diversity presents unique challenges and opportunities in the field of inclusion and special education, but also in the delivery of intervention and awareness of society.

Different cultural backgrounds and customs. Two separate worlds, on the one hand, culture and customs, and on the other hand, the perception of the disabled individual and his needs.

Despite the growing awareness of the needs of individuals with disabilities in Dubai and efforts to offering a full-fledged education to all without distinction, these efforts remain marked by a cultural stigma that often complicates and slows down the process.

A place where there is no comprehensive and systematic intervention and parents of diagnosed children often lack any information, either about the diagnosis itself or about the possibilities of intervention.

The lecture will present the view of a speech therapist living in the United Arab Emirates.
