Virtual Classroom

Week 7: Online collaboration and communication tools

The Act of Working Together

Dear students,

this module aims to introduce you to a variety of digital platforms, including Jamboard, Miro, Padlet, Slack and Trello, each of which offers unique potential to support teaching and learning objectives.

Through these tools, we explore the art of creating interactive and engaging virtual environments that encourage student collaboration and participation. Our aim is to show how these tools can be used to develop critical digital skills in both teachers and students, enhancing their ability to create and share digital content effectively.

By integrating these online resources into your teaching strategies, you'll be able to promote a more dynamic and collaborative learning experience.

I wish you a pleasant reading.

This module aims to:

  • Introduce online tools that allow students and teachers to collaborate and cooperate.
  • Demonstrate the specific potential of these tools.
  • Present the features of the tools so that the student can decide which ones will best support his or her stated learning objectives.

As you read, ask yourself the following reflective questions:

  1. What are the benefits to my students of using a shared virtual whiteboard?
  2. How much information can I put on an online whiteboard in one lesson?
  3. Considering the digital competences supported by presented online tools, how can educators effectively integrate these tools into their teaching practices to not only enhance student learning but also to model and develop students' digital literacy?
