Requirements: In order to pass the course you need to pass at least 70 % out of 200 points, which consist of: Placement test 1 – 10 points Placement test 2 – 20 points Progress test – 10 points Attendance and active participation – 10 points Written assignment – 10 points Homework and self study – 10 pints Final written test – 80 points (minimal pass mark is 70 %; you can have a re-sit) Oral test – 50 points Assignment for the whole course: - regular attendance: because we are already going to miss a lot of sessions due to bank holidays and your teaching practice, regular attendance is strongly recommended! - homework and self-study: this is also an essential part – you must come ready for each seminar and devote time to your self-study as well (see the details below) - 2 written assignments: you will choose 2 topics from the topics we will have discussed and write a specific written essay to those 2 chosen ones (upload them in the IS); the deadline is 14^th December for both writings - learning plan: you will choose at least 3 activities connected with English learning that you find interesting and helpful and that you want to devote your time to in your free time. You will send me a list of these activities and details about realizing those activities at the latest on the 4^th October. o examples of these activities: § reading an English book § analyzing song lyrics § watching series in English § having a skype conversation with an English speaking friend § visiting an Eng. speaking country § visiting an Eng. speaking event § participating in an international student club § chatting with friends in English § writing a learning diary § extra grammar exercises on the Internet or in a textbook § e-learning courses, etc. o you can choose anything that fits you and your interests but remember that you must plan all the details of your activity: § e.g. don’t write: I’m going to listen to some songs. § instead write e.g. : I’m going to listen to the songs of XXX at least XXX a week and I’m going to read their lyrics and choose interesting vocabulary from these songs.
