session 6
We practised:
- /h/ sound (also in relation to its spelling)
- /r/ sound
- /w/ in contrast to /v/
- aspiration (including the forbidden combination of /sp st sk/)
Below is extra practice in transcription as well as a sample of a marked test.
TRANSCRIPTION
Just a few comments on my corrections:
- if you see a circle in the text, it means "a repeated mistake", and I count it only the first time you make that particular mistake (but this holds only for this semester :-);
- if you have a careful look, there would be even more candidates for "handwritten symbols" than those I've marked, so try to avoid them;
- the conjunction "or" could be also in the strong form /ɔ:/ and there could be a linking /r/ at the end of the previous word;
- each 3 mistakes mean 1/2 point off the final score;
- the passmark will always be 70%.
The following is from the worksheet on past tense endings, it's the exercise on the right, first 3 dialogues.
The following is from the worksheet on the diphthong /eə /, it's the exercise "Sarah went shopping".
This exercise is from the worksheet /ŋ/: Task 5.
