Further information:

Book

At the end of each class, students are expected to spend 10 minutes reading a book of their own choice. They can then reflect on what they have read in the journal.

If you don't know what book to choose, you can always read The Count of Monte Cristo - it is provided for you in PDF in Moodlinka.

Journal

Keeping a journal is a part of your continuous assessment. Every week you should write a few sentences to reflect on your learning journey; e.g.:

  • what you have learnt (in the class or outside),
  • what you need to work on and how you plan to work on it;
  • what is happening in the book you are reading, etc.
  • you will also complete other tasks assigned during the classes
  • new words you have learnt - write new words from each class (I recommend bringing a notebook and writing the words during the class; there will be three columns - a word / translation / phonemic transcription)

You should contribute to the journal every week = even if there is no class or if you do not come to the class.

Journal Assessment

  • Are there at least ten proper weekly entries in your journal?
  • Have you included your Placement Test results comparison?
  • Have you included your Smart Goals and reflection on your Smart Goals?
  • How much have you written? How complex are your thoughts?
  • Are you able to talk about your journal and take us through it? - you will talk about it during the speaking part of your final test

Please be active in the classes, talk and finish your homework! Good luck!
