A Guide for Beginning Teachers

First meeting

Meeting new colleagues for the first time can be challenging, but it is crucial to make an effort to present your strengths and, if possible, find support and help for your work.

When meeting new people, we tend to hide parts of our personality in order to better match their/our idea of ourselves. Morgana Bailey talks about the importance of being honest and not hiding our true selves.

Dana, the Teacher

For the first time in her life, Dana will be assuming the role of a teacher at a school. Even though she has had several internships, it is still a new role for her, and Dana is somewhat nervous about her first days. However, she does not want to be underprepared for the school year. So, in addition to preparing her lessons, she dedicates enough time to meeting her colleagues. It is their help that will be important when problems arise in the classroom.
