Learning aims
The aim of the course is to provide students who consider studying abroad with specific communication, language and intercultural skills to be able to cope with various situations when studying in a foreign country.

The course will focus on CEFR B2 level of academic English, revising and extending the vocabulary connected to education in English, studying abroad, cultural differences, English for academic purposes, etc.

Course Completion

We will complete a portfolio of items:

  1. A voice recording of your self-assessment and goals
  2. A short talk with questions and discussion on an interesting topic from your major
  3. Consultation and advising session (with your teacher)
  4. Presentation of study intentions and/or experiences abroad

Your self-assessment and English skills learning goals

From the B2 self-assessment sheet, note all the parts that are goals or priorities for you.

Next, learn about setting SMART goals and set your own specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound goal for your English skills learning (academic reading, writing, speaking, and listening, thinking in English, presentations, discussions, listening to lectures, solving cultural or other problems in English, etc.)

Self-assessment and learning goals recording
Record a short 2-3 minute speech about your self-assessment against the B2 level and your English skills learning goals. Be SMART about your goals. Due: Sunday 2/10/2022
